  thanks TR. I'm so brimfull with holiday spirit it's almost sickening!

  Papa put up the tree & lights today so we are going to enjoy trimming it slowly over the next coupla days as I can manage. I'm ignoring the dust and clutter and just dolloping holiday cheer around the house in small increments. Not being able to clean and decorate just isn't fazing me for some reason; whatever happens, it's all good!

  So many people have expressed such love and concern for me, I feel like Mr. Grinch whose heart grew two sizes in one day; I have a permanent goofy grin no matter how lousy I feel!

  Love is in the air, trala, and I STILL wish my card buddy would email me!

  Another Christmas confession.

  last week, i told about how i watched the christmas eve sky, for santa claus, after my parents became witnesses, thinking he just didn't come to our house anymore.. here is another thing i did.

  all through school (my parents became dubs before i went to kindergarten) i participated in decorating the room for christmas.

  i sang all the carols, and ate the goodies that were brought my the moms.

  canberra (reuters) - an australian primary school banned a teacher after she told a class of six year olds that santa claus does not exist.. angry parents from the corowa public school demanded action when some children arrived home in tears after a reserve teacher, on her first day on the job, told them their parents brought their presents.. "santa claus has always visited our house at christmas," mother vanessa lohse told the daily telegraph newspaper.. "my three kids (aged five, six, and eight) don't believe santa is real now -- it's really put a damper on christmas.".

  We celebrated Christmas when I was a wee little kid, until age 7 or so. I don't remember ever believing Santa was more than a wonderful notion of holiday excitement; I mean, I KNEW where the wonderful loot came from, it was Mom or Dad's handiwork, but the whole business of hiding all that shiny glory (and my folks were champs at hiding everything but the tree until after we were asleep Xmas eve) and having it appear on Christmas morning... that seemed magical to me. Household magic, family love magic. Santa was a symbol of that magic.

  Some fat dude tryin to come down the chimney of our cherry-red pot-bellied stove? Even as a toddler THAT story wouldn't float!

  But I still adored the jolly old elf and left cookies for him...

  Maybe this is just because I had lots of older sibs and they cued me in early. But I never had a prob recognizing Santa as more than a fun imaginary friend.

  the last week has been a long drugged blur (and kent, i can hear you snickering about how that isn't a bad thing .

  Mommie Dark

  Well, like the proverbial bad penny, Mommie Dark is back again. The last week has been a long drugged blur (and Kent, I can hear you snickering about how that isn't a bad thing ). The immediate future holds a lot more boring tedious medical razzmatazz. I am stabilized but we still don't know what caused the spiking BP or why it is taking such extreme measures to keep it stable. Presently I'm just grateful that I was able to gain enough ground to be discharged and crawl back into the Dark bolthole to snooze and recharge.

  To all who sent such wonderful greetings and good wishes, my sincere thanks. Knowing there was a fraternity of caring souls willing good for me was one of the most potent aids in surviving the nightmare cycles of pain and nausea.

  I hope this is marginally coherent; I'm weak as a kitten and haven't got even an ounce of mean to spare. I was even friendly and polite to the hospital chaplain . I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the outpouring of love and goodwishes. You are a wonderful bunch of souls, and your cards and emails and messages thru Papa have been a warm comfort in a cold grim climate.

  And now, back to bed for a while.

  Don't forget the change in the baptismal questions...I know someone has the exact wording pre-and post-change. Used to be you got baptized as symbol of dedication to God& Christ, now you dedicate to the holy organization.

  Mommie Dark

  This will be my first Thanksgiving as a granny; my son is marrying a gal with some kids and they already call me 'gramma' which could be weird cause they are older than my youngest son. Nice weird tho, and since we are the poster children for non-traditional family, quite fitting.

  We're going to their house for the meal and all I have to cook is a turkey with cornbread dressing; they've got a ham and all the trimmings, so this is the first post-Jdub holiday where I am not chief cook. I intend to relax and let the kids spoil me.
